The works on this page made up my degree show, an installation with video, sound and painting, externalising the mind of someone struggling with depression and anxiety following the experience of assault, in an attempt to gain enough distance to process the after effects. During this time I communicated through my treatment of materials, not focusing on the end product, but rather how I felt during the creation process. I handled materials with force and violence, creating through destruction, building a piece up only to tear it apart again. In some cases the end form may only be shards or ashes.
The space was entirely enclosed, with each wall hand painted and textured, and the ceiling woven over with string/thread.
It was deemed “visceral and unsettling” by The Scotsman.
